How customers opt in to text messages
Last updated: June 30, 2026
PostReview (operated by COBRA & SPEER LLC) sends SMS review requests on behalf of local trade-service businesses to their own customers. Consent is collected directly by the business, one-to-one, at the time of service — there is no website or keyword opt-in. This page documents exactly how that consent is captured.
The opt-in flow
- A business completes a job for a customer in person. The business asks the customer for their mobile number and tells them they will receive a text asking for a Google review. The customer verbally agrees.
- Back in the PostReview app, before any message can be sent, the business employee must enter the customer’s number and check a consent box confirming the customer gave permission. The text cannot be sent unless that box is checked.
- The customer receives at most two messages and can reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help.
The in-app consent step (what the business sees)
